Installation

Step 1:
Starting at the center of the groove, bend the Nextflex custom flexible heater at the center mark consistent with the direction of the groove.
Step 2:
Hold the Nextflex heater directly above the groove at the point of installation. Strike the Nextflex heater hard to seat it well. Form and install in short lengths to prevent re-bending. Always start by installing the heater at the center mark at the center location of the groove.
Step 3:
It is important to make sure the Nextflex custom flexible heater is directly above the groove prior to striking. Form and install in 1-to-2-inch sections (25 to 50 mm).

The heater is flexible due to annealing. Multiple bends in the same location “work harden” the heater. For best results, form the heater as precisely as possible prior to installing in the groove.

Step 4:
While keeping the Nextflex heater flat and forming it with your free hand, bend the heater to match the groove.
Step 5:
One strong strike is more effective than two soft strikes. If your groove dimensions are correct, you will not damage the internal heater.
Step 6:
The Nextflex staking tool is a key component in the seating the heater properly. This improves heat transfer and maximizes heater life. Strike hard to stake every 3/4 in (about 20 mm).
Make sure the straight section of the groove is fully installed prior to forming your bend.

Nextflex Lead Adapter Kit

An add-on to the standard terminal that adds a 1,000 mm (40″) lead wire.

The Nextflex lead adapter kit is an optional accessory for the Ø8.0/Ø8.5 Nextflex heater that allows a user to connect a flexible lead wire safely to the heater.  It is intended to be used as a power connection that once wired into the tool can be reused in case the heater needs servicing at a later time.  The high-temperature ceramic sleeve allows for a high-temperature performance as well as a safe electrical connection for user protection.  The kit comes standard with 1,000mm (40”) high temperature lead wires fixed to terminals that screw onto the heater’s M4 stud, an anti-seize paste to aid in future disassembly, and the ceramic sleeve that helps retain the connection during exposure to temperature changes over time as well as provide for shock protection.  Each kit contains enough components to fully wire one heater.  Longer lead lengths are available on request.
See data sheet for more details
Nextflex Lead Adapter Kit Installation
  1. Remove both nuts and washers from the end of the heater.
  2. Align the metal crimp on the power lead with the threaded stud and rotate to assemble. Do not screw on fully – leave about 2-3 mm of threads exposed on the heater pin.
  3. While holding the lead wire, slide the ceramic sleeve up to cover the metal crimp, then rotate to engage the internal threads.
  4. Turn until the ceramic sleeve seats against the end of the Nextflex custom flexible heater, and finger tighten to hold. This will act as a jam nut and bind the metal crimp against the threads of the stud reducing the risk of it loosening up over time. Do not overtighten the ceramic sleeve, only a slight binding is needed to secure.
